Sheep have a special comment to make regarding saving my freaking planet and killing the well. First of all lets establish my experience in the oilfield, or shell I say the experience the guy with his fist up my but has. I have 17 years of experience working the Canadian oilfields and have worked on some of the sourest wells and Blowouts in Canada, all having H2S. An extremely poisonous gas from wells that also produce condensate, natural gas, oil or sulfur. I was an H2S Safety Consultant . My job was to provide breathing apprentice and supervise worker working on drilling and Service Rig that have encountered H2S in the Gas or oil. Cow was a oilfield firefighter and has also been on a number of blowouts, but he's not here right now. To perform my Job I had to be knowledgeable in all aspect of drilling and work over procedure to anticipate possible danger to personal and equipment and have some knowledge on well control procedures. |

BP will leave the cap on the oil well while it vacates the area for a number of days to avoid the coming tropical storm. What could possibly go wrong? One expert warns that increasing pressure might have an unintended danger: Bill Gale, a California engineer and industrial explosion expert who is a member of the Deepwater Horizon Study Group, said... that gas hydrate crystals could be plugging any holes in the underground portion of the well, and they could get dislodged as pressure builds. (Gale was formerly Chief Loss Prevention Engineer for Bechtel in San Francisco, obtained his undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering, Masters in Civil Engineering and PhD in Fire Safety Engineering Science from the University of California, Berkeley. Gale is a registered professional engineer in both mechanical engineering and fire protection engineering, and has more than forty years of industrial loss prevention, process safety management, and fire protection/fire safety engineering experience.) In other words, there may have been a destruction of a portion of the steel well casing which was temporarily plugged by methane hydrate crystals. Leaving the well cap may slowly raise the pressure in the well to the point where the hydrate crystals are dislodged, in which case the well might really start leaking. Sound farfetched? Maybe. But remember that the "top hat" containment dome failed because it got plugged up with methane hydrate crystals. And remember that there's a lot of ... |

Who is stealing the Albanian Petroleum ? To many people dont know that Albania is 1 of 3 riches states of the Europe concerning Petroleum and Gas Oil, after Norwegia and Great Britain! The Albanian Patos Marinze fields are the largest onshore oilfields in continental Europe with reserves of approximately 1 Bn Bbls of 8º to 10º API oil. Today Albania is full of foreign enterprises and corporations like: Occidental Petroleum OXY (USA), Bankers Petroleum (Canada), Manas Petroleum Corporation (Suisse), Enel and Italo-Romenian Company (Italy), Shell (Holand), INA Naftaplin (Croatia), Premier Oil and Anglo Petroleum Limited (UK), ÖMV (Austria), Coparex Netherlands BV, Coparex (France), Fountain Oil (Norwegian), Kitari Oil (Australian) Enterprise and Clyde Petroleum, Angchutz, MOL etc. They extract petroleum and gas oil from Albanian soil for export at a lower price than the official international markets. How could happen that a country like Albania, whose natural resources are the much largest in hole Europe although not evident to all, is not capable to exit its political and economic impasse? Where does that petroleum end? Who does stay hidden behind this traffic, managing through shamefully ways the richness of Albania and leaving it in poorness? Why do either TVs or newspapers or books not deal with this matter? Why arent there people, and not even amongst Albanian politicians, talking about the most astounding steal perpetuated for 18 years? Who does take advantage from ... |

Four Dublin Shell to Sea campaigners chained themselves to the stairwells inside Department of Communications, Energy and Natural Resources as an action in solidarity with Pat ODonnell. The four members of Shell to Sea are draped in chains and locked together in order to symbolise the ongoing imprisonment of Erris fisherman and prominent Mayo Shell to Sea campaigner Pat ODonnell. Last February, Mr. ODonnell (52) was sentenced to serve seven months in prison on the spurious grounds of obstructing a Garda in the course of his duty. Speaking from inside the building, Dublin Shell to Sea spokesperson, Caoimhe Kerins said: Pat ODonnell is a brave and honourable man who has simply stood up for the health and safety rights of his community and for the rights of the people of Ireland to benefit economically and socially from our vast oil and gas resources. |

WASHINGTON, JUN 17, 2010 -- Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-FL) today participated in the House Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations' hearing with Tony Hayward, the CEO of BP. Stearns questioned Hayward about the vague answers given throughout the hearing, "You just continue to say that I just can't answer that question," said Stearns. Stearns then asked if BP engaged in reckless behavior causing this oil blow out, "Would it be appropriate to say that its because of BP's reckless behavior that this occurred, yes or no?" Hayward eventually responded, "There is no evidence of reckless behavior." Stearns then pointed out that at a hearing two days previously, the top executives from BP's major competitors -- Exxon Mobil, Chevron, ConocoPhillips, and Shell --- agreed that BP was reckless in proceeding after finding inconsistent well pressure test readings. They also agreed with Stearns that BP failed to follow industry safety standards. Stearns also cited Halliburton's warning that the well could have a severe gas flow problem if these safety recommendations were not followed, which BP rejected, and the exchange of BP emails discussing these recommendations that further underscored their reckless behavior. Stearns also asked, "Has anyone in BP been fired because of this incident, anybody?" "No, so far," responded Hayward, "Our investigation is ongoing." Stearns expressed astonishment that no one has been held accountable at BP for the loss of life or the massive economic and ... |

WASHINGTON -- A federal judge struck down the Obama administration's six-month ban on deepwater oil drilling in the Gulf of Mexico as rash and heavy-handed Tuesday, saying the government simply assumed that because one rig exploded, the others pose an imminent danger, too. The White House promised an immediate appeal. Later Tuesday, Interior Secretary Ken Salazar said in a statement that within the next few days he will issue a new order imposing a moratorium that will eliminate any doubt it is needed and appropriate. The Interior Department had imposed the moratorium last month in the wake of the BP disaster, halting approval of any new permits for deepwater projects and suspending drilling on 33 exploratory wells. White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said President Barack Obama believes that until investigations can determine why the spill happened, continued deepwater drilling exposes workers and the environment to "a danger that the president does not believe we can afford." Several companies that ferry people and supplies and provide other services to offshore rigs argued that the moratorium was arbitrarily imposed after the April 20 explosion that killed 11 workers and blew out a well 5000 feet underwater. It has spewed anywhere from 67 million to 127 million gallons of oil. US District Judge Martin Feldman, who was appointed by President Ronald Reagan and has owned stock in a number of petroleum-related companies, sided with the plaintiffs. "If some drilling ... |

Construction of the world's largest gas to liquids (GTL) plant, Pearl GTL in Qatar, is a major step towards meeting the world's growing demand for cleaner energy. Discover the project and the people involved The plant, a joint development by Qatar Petroleum and Shell, will process about three billion barrels-of-oil-equivalent over its lifetime from the world's largest single non-associated gas field, the North Field, which stretches from Qatar's coast out into the Gulf. The North Field contains more than 900 trillion cubic feet of gas, about 15% of worldwide gas resources.* Pearl GTL will produce cleaner-burning diesel and kerosene, base oils for top-tier lubricants, a chemical feedstock called naphtha, which is used to make plastics, and normal paraffin, which is used to produce detergents. It will produce enough fuel to fill over 160000 cars a day and enough synthetic base oil each year to make lubricants for more than 225 million cars. |

This consolidated operations building was planned to future additions to the central area for a future commercial production facility, as well as expand its offices to address the need for such future increased operations. Growth of the structure is telescopic: it was designed to allow access to the maintenance area, warehouse, and conference areas while being able to expand in many directions over time independent of other departments. Mimicing the trees of northern region, the exterior shell is designed as a modular panelized system to aid in reducing costs and reflecting the environment around it. The interiors also share this idea, with many examples of local imagery embedded into the architecture. Separation of interior & exterior personnel through good plan organization and wayfinding, and designing proper accesses and materials/finishes to the Permitting, Control and other indoor spaces will help the facility remain clean and minimize the 24/7 operation wear and tear. |
