Will Your Heating Oil Be Replaced By Urine In The Future

Saturday, July 24th, 2010

You may never have considered that there could be a possibility that you may have to use urine in the future instead of heating oil. This idea may sound absolutely revolting to you and you may think that it is a joke or even April Fools Day. Well, as funny as it sounds, it really could be that urine might be the solution to our future home heating needs. And believe it or not there are already tests being carried out in the United States in Ohio to see if they can turn cow urine into a type of biofuel. And there is no reason why they would not be able to use human urine if it works with cow urine.

So how could urine possibly replace home heating oil?

Well you have heard of hydrogen power haven’t you? The ability to turn hydrogen into a reliable fuel source has been the dream for years. One of the most widely available gases in the universe is hydrogen. This is a very reactive atom which also means that it can easily produce energy. As you might remember from school water is made up of 2 hydrogen and one oxygen atom. You have probably also noticed that your urine is mostly made up of water. So in theory, urine could in fact create energy which would eliminate the need for heating oil.

‘Why bother at all?’ might be one question you are now asking yourself. Especially since there is so much water in the UK and there is not much chance of there being a drought. What is the point of trying to create energy from urine. Because it can be quite expensive to get rid of urine it makes sense to try to use it some other way. You can actually kill two birds with one stone by turning urine into energy.

Heating ones home in the cold months of winter can cost a fair packet. Electricity and gas prices are very high and show no signs of coming down any time soon. Savvy people are changing over to oil as a home fuel though. Heating oil suppliers are the people tasked with keeping home oil tanks full. Heating oil suppliers are found countrywide and can, as an example, supply heating oil Tewkesbury.
